Analysis of Wear Causes in Packing Assemblies:
1.Due to the back-and-forth axial breathing motion of the ring group, the ring group continuously impacts the cup groove walls on both sides of the ring groove, resulting in impact marks.

The impact caused

This increases the width of the original ring groove and the lateral clearance, thereby increasing the impact force of the ring assembly and greatly reducing its service life.

The influence of the gas medium during the operation of the compressor causes rusting and other phenomena at the sealing surface of the packing assembly;

The generation of rust spots can lead to a decrease in the sealing between cup grooves, resulting in air leakage.

Process Flow

Disassembly, inspection and cleaning:

Disassemble the packing box assembly that needs maintenance, clean the cup groove components, remove oil stains and rust; All internal holes and channels (including waterway holes, oil injection holes, and air leakage holes) need to be cleaned to ensure smooth passage of each hole and channel (if there are serious blockages that cannot be removed, they need to be marked and subsequently cleaned with a drill bit)

Inspection and verification:

Use a vernier caliper or micrometer to measure and record the axial width of each cup groove, and calculate the distance from the sealing surface of the end cup groove to the back of the flange. At the same time, verify with the customer's on-site unit filling culvert to ensure sufficient maintenance allowance.

Analysis of cup slot sealing surface maintenance:

Check the wear condition of the sealing surface of all cup grooves. If there are impact marks, grooves, or other factors that affect the sealing effect on the sealing surface, it is necessary to perform turning and grinding treatment on the sealing surface with sufficient repair allowance. If the wear is severe and the repair allowance is insufficient, a new cup slot needs to be reworked for replacement.

Maintenance analysis of ring groove:

Check the width dimensions of the inner ring grooves of all cup grooves. If there are obvious impact marks, grooves, etc., the inner ring grooves need to be machined while ensuring the depth of the ring grooves. If the wear is severe or the repair allowance is insufficient, a new cup groove needs to be machined for replacement.

Sealing surface groove treatment:

After repairing and processing the sealing surface of the cup groove, if there is a sealing O-ring groove on the sealing surface, it is necessary to deepen the O-ring groove to ensure the sealing effect of the O-ring.

Maintenance and handling of internal zero:

For the stuffing box assembly that requires maintenance, all internal standard components need to be replaced (including flange O-rings, waterway O-rings, end face washers, positioning rods, nuts, etc.).

Assembly of packing box:

Reassemble the cleaned and repaired cup groove components, ensuring that new O-rings are placed in each water channel O-ring groove. Adjust the concentricity of the cup groove through the fixture and tighten the positioning rod nut.
